From my collection of vintage compacts and carryall evening purses this Evans has to be one of my favorites because it is entirely complete inside.

This is a wonderful vintage Evans Standard Carryall “Starburst”, combination compact and cigarette holder 1940`s. Double access case with a snake wrist chain.
It has a gold finish with diagonal embossed lines.
It opens on both sides and has a 5 and ¾ inch gold mesh carriying strap.
The interior of the cigarette area is plain, and can hold regular size cigarettes or king size, depending on which way you place them.

The compact area has a mirror in the lid, also contains a comb in a gold, hinged holder which can be folded up toward the mirror.
The make-up area has a lidded powder case and the lid lifts by pressing the small button near the opening. Next to that is an unused peach powder puff, next to it is a lipstick container which actually contains a dark red lipstick.
Under the powder compact is room for some folding money.
If you do not use the cigarette compartiment you can place your license there and a credit card too.

In the Collector's Encyclopedia of Compacts Carryalls & Face Powder Boxes by Laura M. Mueller, there is an ad on page 139 with young actress Shirley Temple holding an Evans carryall with this identical textured radiant sunburst design only with a different center rhinestone decoration.
You can see inside this book on page 134 with a value 125 – 300 dollars, depending if has rhinestones or pearls or not.
